Gamers who play the popular MOBA game, League of Legends, often look forward to watching their popular eSports team take the main stage and/or attend small local tournaments.  From a competitive point of view, we have yet to see a side of the gaming communities that host League of Legends in New Jersey that include: the best players in the local scene, huge prize pool, big sponsorships, and of course the crowd.

For those living in NJ and the tristate area, its time!  An epic event will be happening on August 13.

Witness Greatness: Becoming a Local Legend

On Saturday, August 13, 2016, East Coast Gamers League @ecglnet and Ward eSports @wardesports teamed up to host Local Legends — an epic battle between sixteen (16) teams that will take place in one of the most popular gaming centers in the NY/NJ metro area, Local Battles @LocalBattles located in Fort Lee, NJ.  The event will be live broadcasted on Twitch.tv at twitch.tv/ecglnet.

Sure, friendly skirmishes are fun, but the Local Legends event are for the gamers who look forward to testing their skills amongst the local best.  This is the event gaming communities of League of Legends have been waiting for.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Red Bull, SteelSeries, Need for Seat, Sennheiser and Riot Games, the Local Legends event is set to attract a lot of the competitive players and/or teams to join in.

What will they be competing for? Besides the $4,000 prize split between the top three teams, here’s the breakdown of the prizes:

Prize Pool: $4000 Prize Pool

  • First place: 65% of prize pool + Riot Points + 5x SteelSeries Siberia V200 Headsets
  • Second place: 25% of prize pool + Riot Points + 5x SteelSeries Rival 100 Mousepads
  • Third place: 10% of prize pool + 5x SteelSeries QcK Heavy Mousepads
  • Giveaway to spectators: 2x SteelSeries QcK Heavy Mousepads

Riot Prizing:

  • First place: 5000 RP, Ryze, Triumphant Ryze, 10-Win IP Boost
  • Second place: 4000 RP, 10-Win IP Boost
  • Third place: 2500 RP, 10-Win IP Boost
  • Fourth place: 1500 RP, 10-Win IP Boost
  • Fifth place: 10-Win IP Boost

Gaming communities in the Ward eSports network such as NJIT’s League of Legends club (Team Fusion), Olympus eSports @esports_olympus and local gamers from the tristate area are preparing for the biggest League of Legends local tournament.

Battle Ground: Local Battles Gaming Center

This gaming center has been hailed as one of the most sought after gaming venues for its history in hosting local and professional competitions for both amateur and professional gamers!  So, hosting the event at Local Battles is the best choice.  With over 35+ battle stations, players do not have to bring their computers (if they want to bring their own keyboard and mouse, they can).
